June Pick: Sundays at Tiffany
Sundays At Tiffany's by James Patterson is a nice, gentle and feel-good read. The book is about 9 year old Jane, a little girl who has an imaginary friend named Michael who helps her cope as the often neglected daughter of a successful screenwriting mother. On her 9th birthday it is time for Michael to leave to help another child and he promises she won't remember him but...she does, every day. Fast forward to Jane in her early 30's, working for her mother, in an unfulfilling relationship and having just had a successful broadway play about a little girl and her imaginary friend. She and Michael, against all the "rules" of the imaginary friend world see each other and their deep friendship is as strong as it was and feelings beyond friendship begin to develop. This is a very quick read, light but a feel-good story that will make you smile. No bodice ripper but with a lovely little romance.
