For my graphic novel, I continued the Y: The Last Man series. I had read Vol. 1 in May and was eager to get Vol 2. This is really great series to read, especially if you're new to graphic novels. The story is realistic fiction and takes place in present time but a time in which a virus kills every living being on the planet with a Y Chromosone instantly - man and animals. Every one but a man and his male monkey. All around the globe, things have fallen apart as power plants, government, industry, transportation,etc has ground to a halt, in part because half the workforce is dead and the highways are clogged with automobiles left there when their male occupants died. So as civilization tries to bring order back, there are factions within US society, including a cult-gang of women called the Amazons that symbolize their sisterhood by cutting off a breast and being very territorial. Once they hear of a man alive, the story takes off. The man, his bodyguard and a scientist, who may have had a hand in development of this virus, try and find out what happened and a cure while they are pursued by the Amazons.
Again, great series to get your feet wet and its very popular with teens and adults!
