"Queen of Babble" by Meg Cabot

Lizzie Nichols has just graduated from college and is on her way to England to visit her boyfriend when she learns a few unfortunate things: 1) She forgot to write her college thesis and thus, did not technically graduate yet, and her English boyfriend is a jobless leach and once referred to her as “chubby”. Wanting to escape, Lizzie travels to France to join some friends and meets a handsome stranger on the train. Lizzie, being a bit of a chatterbox, reveals all the previous events that have happened to her, as well as a few more secrets. But this handsome man on the train is not really a stranger, as Lizzie will soon find out.

I love chick lit. I love the simplicity of it, the easiness, the loveably irritating yet relatable characters (Lizzie and I share a case of “foot-in-mouth syndrome”!) But I was a little disappointed to realize that this story is a little too similar to other chick lit books I’ve read, particularly Sophie Kinsella’s novels. The man’s name was even the same in this and “Confessions of a Shopaholic”. Both characters’ names are Luke! Still, I kept reading. Chick lit is fun, fluffy, harmless reading and although nothing groundbreaking or Pulitzer prize winning, I still really enjoyed this book.
