The Kill Artist by Daniel Silva

I chose this book on Sandy's recommendation and it didn't disappoint.

The protagonist is Gabrielle Allon, an Israeli art restorer and reluctant assassin who's drawn back into "the business" by the chance to avenge his family's death. The plot hinges on a cat and mouse game between Allon and the Palestinian uber-terrorist Tariq. Tariq is bent on derailing the fragile Mideast peace process and will let nothing stand in his way. There's lots of taught, realistic spying, sticky situations, and enough globe-hopping to keep any armchair travelers entertained.

Fans of worldwide espionage books will find a perfect fit with The Kill Artist. I'd be comfortable recommending Silva to fans of Vince Flynn, Ken Follett, John LeCarre, and Robert Ludlum. The best part is that it's the first in a series. If you get readers hooked on "The Kill Artist", there's plenty more waiting to be read.
