Best of the series yet. Although there's not a ton of plot developments that happened in this lastest form Chistopher Paolini, I must say that this is the best written book of the three. Although there is some stilted dialogue at times, the majority of the work runs smoothly.
My largest criticism of the other books was that they borrowed heavily, almost criminially on other better known fantasy classics, is not true of this book either; Paolini seems to be cutting his own path (somewhat).
If you remember Rowan, Eragon's cousin, from the earlier books, be prepared to get a larger taste of him in this one. If you'll recall his betrothed, Katrina is being held by the evil Rac'ac at the end of the second book. After he and Eragon battle for her, Rowan emerges as a strong commander in his own right. The Eargon-lady elf love dymanic seemed to get lost in this book, but perhaps that's a good thing.
Mostly this book seems to be gearing up for the fourth and final book which will be a show-down between Eargon and the evil king. Thus, not too much actually happened in this one, except Eargon got a new sword.
