The restless sleep : inside New York City's Cold Case Squad

I really enjoyed The restless sleep : inside New York City's Cold Case Squad by Stacy Horn. It's about the bureau of the NYPD that tries to solve older murder cases. While a number of these cases are never solved, a number are able to be years after the murder is committed. The reason? Wives become ex-wives and want vengeance; people do have regrets and want to come clean. Additionally, DNA evidence that was not available just a decade ago can now be used (but is very expensive!) One murder case was solved because one of the perps becomes 'born again' and tells the police everything that happened.

It was a very honest and open look at the NYPD, including their faults. The books also took into account the strange relationships that develop between detectives and the accused during the course of an investigation.
