Santa Fe Dead - Thriller/Suspense - by Stuart Woods

We listened to this title on a road trip and I would highly recommend it on audio. Santa Fe Dead is the second in the Ed Eagle series. Ed Eagle is an attorney in the New Mexico area with a sociopath wife/ex-wife. The character may seem a bit familiar, as he is very like one of Woods’ other characters, Stone Barrington. Barrington is an attorney in New York City who is a bit of a ladies’ man. Surprising, so is Eagle. Eagle is not an ex-detective like Barrington, so geography isn’t the only difference in the two. The first in the Eagle series is Short Straw and I would highly recommend starting the series there as it is where Eagle wife Barbara begins her antics. The series is also loosely connected to the Rick Barron series, in that the studio that Barron worked for, Centurion is featured. The Barron series is historical and the Eagle contemporary, so the two really don’t share characters, but settings will seem familiar to those that read them all. Santa Fe Dead was another constant offering from Woods and it filled our eight hours on the road nicely. I would recommend it to both legal suspense and thriller fans.
